I’m a pretty regular traveller. So it was an unpleasant surprise to add a new item to ‘things that can go wrong during a flight transfer’. Flight delay, lost bag or ticket? Nope, almost everything went smoothly. The only thing that didn’t was me.
So not the butterflies and koi carp of stunning Changi airport for me. Just 3 hours hatefully glaring at a the back of a cubicle door willing the penny I was trying to spend to drop.

Only 10 hours of flying done, 14 to go. A 75km/h tailwind into Singapore having cruelly turned into a time-piling 150km/h headwind for the London leg. And I’m sitting like a freshly spayed cat on a spike.
It’s hours before I’m skipping back to my seat from a successful visit to the rear of the plane with a joy usually reserved for 2. I’ve joined the mile long club.
